Small Enough to Save a Life
Every day, more than a hundred babies are born at Pumwani Maternity Hospital — the largest and busiest maternity facility in Kenya. The nurses here move with a quiet urgency that is hard to describe and harder to forget. This photo series documents the introduction of Neopenda's neoGuard into two of East Africa's most resource-stretched maternity wards — a small, wireless vital signs monitor worn as a headband on a newborn, continuously tracking four vital signs and alerting nursing staff the moment a baby needs attention. Shot across two hospitals — Pumwani in Nairobi and Tabaka Mission Hospital in Western Kenya — these images sit at the intersection of innovation and human care, capturing the nurses, the newborns, and the quiet confidence of a technology designed not for the world's best-equipped hospitals, but for the ones that need it most.
